Ebook About
Readers’ Favorite 5-Star WinnerA humorous memoir offering an inside look at an American’s years in Paris…Party girl Vicki moved to Paris hoping to drink wine and fall in love. She accomplished both, with a few bumps along the way: enduring cheesy pick-up lines from French guys, getting seated in the “ugly” section of a chic Parisian restaurant, and chaperoning a field trip of 4-year-olds who speak better French than her.Journey along with Vicki as she finds her way in Paris. All with a drink in hand and a smile on her face. Until she must make a decision: Should she stay in her adopted city or should she return home? (Because if she leaves, she’s sure gonna miss baguettes and stinky cheese.)Discover the real Paris as Vicki shows you the funny side of life, love, and raising a family in the City of Light. Each chapter is paired with a delicious cocktail recipe, like the Sangria Spritzer, Pretty Good Bloody Mary, and Teeny Bellini. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll want to pour yourself another drink!Fans of Mindy Kaling and Amy Schumer will enjoy the humor and candor in Confessions of an Expat in Paris. Book Confessions of an Expat in Paris: A Humorous Travel Memoir with Sassy Drink Recipes (American in Paris) Review :

American Vicki Lesage was lucky enough to live in Paris for 11 years, where she first enjoyed the young, single party life (as recounted in Confessions of a Paris Party Girl), then fell in love with a handsome Frenchman, married him and had two children. All while living in the heart of the city in a tiny one-bedroom apartment. Now living back in the US, Vicki looks back fondly on her time in Paris in a series of vignettes giving us glimpses of what it's really like to live, work and raise children in the heart of one of the great cities of the world - one that she clearly loves, warts and all. Full of humorous anecdotes about the delights of Paris bars, staying out all night dancing and drinking, eating fabulous food (and occasionally lusting after MacDonalds), dealing with French Bureaucracy and a multiplicity of forms and navigating her way through French motherhood and the school system. Each of the short chapters is capped with a cocktail recipe to remind us that Vicki is still a party-girl at heart even if motherhood has somewhat clipped her wings. Short and sassy this is excellent for reading in short bursts, perhaps while testing out one of the delicious cocktail recipes.
Wow! When she prefaces it with "Not that I'm complaining" I have to laugh. Having lived in Paris for a short stint of less than 6 months, and visited the city of lights on 6 separate occasions I can understand some of the writer's frustrations. Perhaps I should have read the Party Girl book first because this resentful mom chooses to whine about every inconvenience that comes her way, in the demanding life of raising 2 children in Paris. Her persistent complaints becomethe entire focus of the book, except when she tries to be funny, which instead ends up sounding like an overconfident person talking out loud into a mirror. Truly, I wish I could get a refund. And as to ordering any more of her books, I suggest she volunteer at the Y for a reality check.
